Help us cure
type 1 diabetes
Who are we and what do we do? Discover in this video
Living with type 1 diabetes is a full-time effort that requires 24/7 vigilance to avoid the life-threatening hypos and the long-term damage from hypers. People with type 1 diabetes need to inject insulin several times a day or wear an insulin pump, and with good blood sugar control they can live to the same age as people without diabetes. Yet, it matters a lot for life expectancy how your diabetes progresses.
Since the establishment of the Hippo & Friends type 1 diabetes fund, we support fundamental scientific research into the causes and disease progression of type 1 diabetes, but also into new medicines or treatment methods to prevent and cure type 1 diabetes. In addition, we want to raise awareness through the diabetes fund and the non-profit organization Hippo and Friends because too often type 1 diabetes is misunderstood. We also focus on improving the quality of life of people with type 1 diabetes by providing education and hands-on training sessions via sports programs like DiaT1op.
Hello my friends!
Hippo would like to welcome you to his website! Do you already know the Hippo & Friends type 1 diabetes fund? Then quickly click through to the news and events page or support us by becoming a donor or volunteer. Are you new to the world of type 1 diabetes and do you want to know what the fund and non-profit organization can do for you? Then read on who we are, what we do, and what type 1 diabetes actually means. You are certainly not the only one with type 1 diabetes! We want to get rid of misunderstandings because many people think that you only get diabetes, because you are overweight or because you snack too much, but it has nothing to do with that.
